As chair of the Advocacy and Communication Committee and current Managing Editor, it is my privilege to introduce you to the new Journal of Osteopathic Pediatrics, the official online journal of the American College of Osteopathic Pediatricians.

After a little over a year of reorganization, reimagination, and reinvigoration, the ACOP is excited to roll out this new iteration of what was previously known as the ACOP eJournal. Keeping with the heritage of the original journal’s creation, we plan to continue to publish the highest quality original research and case studies forwarding the field of osteopathic pediatrics, while also expanding to create a space for publications regarding medical education, healthcare advocacy and policy, and commentaries from the community.

As we continue to act on our commitment to support not only practicing physicians, but also the future of our profession, we have created the first medical journal that is dedicated to showcasing the amazing contributions to the medical field made by our osteopathic medical students and trainees. With the guidance of faculty mentors, our goal is to have osteopathic medical students and trainees not just listed, but leading the authorship of the pieces showcased in our journal. This will serve as a way to educate future physicians on the process of scientific writing and help those interested in a career in academic medicine to get a start on building a strong publication portfolio.

We anticipate our first issue to be published in late Fall of 2024, and intend to publish on a quarterly basis. The submission site will always be open, and submissions will be accepted on a rolling basis.. On behalf of our amazing Editorial Board of Drs. Sophia Mort, Erin Thornley, Angela Tyson, and Kim Wolf, and the rest of the ACOP team we officially invite you to visit the Journal submission site to create a profile and take a tour of our new, user-friendly submission site. We look forward to publishing your future work through the ACOP and the new JOOP!
